thank god somebody still enforces a dress code!

(Hey guys, those yellow power ties are so out!)

Let’s face it, we’ve been going to hell in a hand basket ever since the reintroduction of the attached collar. So, it is good to see that in the hallowed halls of Congress, you can still get frog-marched out in handcuffs for wearing a T-shirt.

Just before the start of Bush’s SOTU, bereaved mother/activist Cindy Sheehan was asked to cover up a tee emblazoned with the words, “2,245 dead. How many more?” When she refused (badly dressed and obstreperous—shame!), Ms. Sheehan was shown the gilded door.

Then, in an attempt to show that style is a bipartisan effort, the Capitol Hill fashion police told Beverly Young, wife of powerful military-industrial complex shill and US Representative C.W. Bill Young (R-FL), that she also had to step outside. Bev was wearing a T-shirt that read, “Support the Troops—Defending Our Freedom.”

Only Sheehan got the complimentary bracelets, though.

But it is clear the fashion police were still in need of better training (perhaps we can find some money in the Homeland Security budget). Sheehan said she was never told of the dress code until she tried to take off her coat—and Vice President Cankles and Speaker Hastert were wearing the same tie!
